The Wario Ware series was initially launched on the GBA in the form of Wario Ware, Inc: Minigame Mania (GBA) (Made in Wario in Japan). It was immediately a commercial and critical success due to its simple gameplay, simple graphical style, and highly innovative structure.

The games centre around the Nintendo character Wario and a collection of other characters. Each character has their own distinctive style and associated collection of minigames. Progress is made by completing minigames and unlocking additional characters, story, and games.
