Story

Long long ago in a land named Og, there lived a one eyed caveman by the name of Trog! And in that land there lived four friends; Rex, Bloop, Spike, and Gwen.

Gameplay

The dinosaurs must collect the eggs of their own colour while avoiding the Trogs. When one dinosaur collects all their eggs, their home will appear. The dinosaur must make it to their own home to advance to the next island. Players are able to punch the Trogs (as well as each other!), three punches will knock the Trog off the screen.

A number of items appear occasionally:

  • Red Weed/Flower: Allows you to walk faster temporarily.
  • Grey Mushroom: Opposite of the red weed, it slows you down.
  • Yellow Horseshoe: Invulnerability.
  • Hot Dog: Allows you to temporarily spit fire instead of punching.
  • Ice Cube: Freezes all enemies on screen - while frozen, only one hit is required to knock Trogs off the screen.
  • Pineapple: Transforms you into a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and allows you to eat the Trogs.

Three bonus waves are available in the game:

  • Trog Feast: All You Can Eat!
The player (in Tyrannosaurus form) is given 25 seconds to eat as many Trogs as they can. Eat them all for a perfect bonus.
  • Diamond Mine: Grab The Jewels!
The player (in normal form) is given 15 seconds to collect all the jewels on the playfield. Collect them all for a perfect bonus.
  • Barbeque: Smoke 'Em All!
The player (in just eaten a hotdog form) is given 20 seconds to burn as many Trogs as they can. Burn them all for a perfect bonus.

Trivia

  • The original concept required the player to place bones on the playfield in order to guide the dinosaur towards the eggs. Following unsuccessful location tests, the gameplay was altered to the Pacman style of the released game.
  • Complete all 49 levels using just one credit for bonus points at the end of the game.
  • On every stage apart from the first & last, an egg in one of the corners will twinkle at the start of the level. Collect this egg last, without losing a life on that level, and a warp hole will appear allowing the player to skip 2 to 3 levels (depending on the level warped from).
