Talk:Sony PSX
From GamerWiki
Something I need to know for the other WIKI I maintain, were any games released specifically for the PSX? And most of the time when you see a game labelled as being for the PSX, does that mean it's for the PS1 or the PS2? --Dinoguy1000 Talk 00:28, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
The vast majority of PS1 games will work for the PS2. There are a few exceptions though (can't remember off the top of my head). --Barthax 10:14, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Quick bit of research shows it's primarily the slimline PS2 which is affected: The list of affected PSone games, however, is quite a bit longer, though still includes a relatively small number of games to be concerned about. Chief among these is the Dual Shock or 5th Anniversary Package version of Resident Evil 2, where the sound playback during movies is incorrect, and Chrono Cross, which also has problems during its ending movie. Also on the list of 39 games is Test Drive 4, Krazy Ivan, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX, and Worms. - Taken from http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=6923 . You should also note that the PS3 is well documented as being poor for backwards compatibility, though fairs marginally better than the Xbox 360 does for the Xbox. :( --Barthax 11:31, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure that's what's being asked ... no, I'm sure there were no games released specifically for the PSX, unless there was something built in. The issue is that people call the PS1 the PSX after its development codename (PlayStation X). So when someone talks about a "PSX" game they normally mean (and should say) a PS1 game. Wow! I'm flabberghasted how off-the-mark I was! Sorry, Dinoguy & thanks for the catch, Xevious. --Barthax 14:05, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Yep, as far as I'm aware, nothing was release specifically for the PSX (i.e. the actual 'PSX' unit and not the common name for the original PS1). Possibly something was released in Japan to take advantage of some (obscure?) features of the new model console, but nothing that I've ever heard of. -- tyagi 22:05, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry for the late (really late) reply... Thanks for your answers, that really helps me out! --Dinoguy1000 Talk 18:27, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
