  • Should this title be referred to as "Feel the Magic XX/XY"? This was the first release title for the game. -- tyagi 02:44, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
    • It's a policy matter, surely? "Feel the Magic XX/XY" is the US title and "Project Rub" is the PAL name. Personally, I think we should stick to using PAL titles where applicable and use redirects, since this is a UK-ran site and the fact that first released name may get confusing. • I live in New Zealand ;-) but I know what you're saying. What we do need to bear in mind is that readers will be from the EU, US and far East (and places in-between). I'm not sure about policy in this case, but I would assume the "most common name" for something would be best. In this case, it isn't clear what the most common name would be as it is unusual for games to be named differently between the US and EU. Generally this is because it requires new marketing material etc. to launch in each territory. I've not got a problem standardising on the PAL name for things, but for example, if you look at the Fatal Frame series and then talk about Project Zero.. 3/4 of the World knows this game as Fatal Frame and will look at you quite blankly if you talk about Project Zero. I would be loathed to create policy surrounding this point, but would just say "go for the most common usage and provide redirects for the others". In cases where a game has been launched under different titles in the English-speaking territories, it would be good to put both cover shots in or around the infobox if we can. -- tyagi 09:50, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
      • I didn't realise you lived in New Zealand - sorry for presuming! I think having a "primary name" set up would cause all sorts of hassle in the long run - look at the hassle "Sega Genesis" and "Sega Mega Drive" has caused on Wikipedia as an example of this. I would suggest you either use the PAL title primarily or the US title primarily, and use that boxart too. To be perfectly honest, I'm happy either way as long as there is a consensus. • I agree with Halo that we should be using the PAL title primarily. Where the US title is different, we can mention this in the "alternatetitle" field, include both titles on the system page, and have the US title redirecting to the PAL one automatically, just like Project Rub is set up like. • I only moved from the UK to NZ in January, so you were nearly right ;-) I don't mind using PAL titles myself, Australasia being a PAL territory. I'm just thinking about the rest of the world and making the content useful to as many people as possible. OK, so it looks like we do have a policy item that's dropped out of this. We should add a bullet-point on Game Title Selection to the policy page. -- tyagi 20:44, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
