Talk:List of Personal Computer Games

I'm just wondering, where do we "draw the line" as far as what games are listed for the PC? Is it just commercially released titles, or major shareware releases, or what? It would be impossible to list every single freeware game, clone, reincarnation, internet game, etc. that's ever been written... --Dinoguy1000 Talk 19:07, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

I've got a number of games which are from cereal packets. I don't expect to be putting these on here, however, this is intended to be an encyclopaedic project, so they certainly fit! :) Personally, I would avoid homebrew releases, but shareware games are on the ball, IMO. Free games from commercial outfits, such as TrackMania Nations, should definitely be documented here. --Barthax 11:26, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm supportive of significant shareware or indie titles being documented here. However, I've got a dedicated Indie Gaming project in the pipeline. If anyone would like to talk about it and bounce some ideas around, please drop me a message. -- tyagi 02:10, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

One more concern...

The PC list isn't really ever going to be complete, is it? There have simply been so many PC titles released over the years, be they documenting-worthy freeware, shareware, or commercial titles, that it would be absurd to think that this list would ever mention all of them. Therefore, is it really correct to say that the list is only "temporary"? --Dinoguy1000 Talk 19:20, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

You're right. I don't think we can ever hope to have a complete list of PC titles. Basically I'm happy if we achieve a 'noteworthy' list. Fortunately, the semi-automated system we have in place will capture all the major new titles that are released. -- tyagi 23:32, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Plus, 'temporary' could mean that it's only temporary for the next 10,000 years ... :) Xevious 10:26, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
