Overhaul of this page

Right, I found the old one bloomin' Game Information Template to deal with so I remade it. I hope I have made the template the proper way, and haven't put anything dodgy in. Feel free to revert if I've mucked it up, but I think this is much superior to the old version! Halo 13:46, 17 May 2005 (UTC)

Also, can you please check I've made it correctly? Not 100% sure. Thanks :) Halo 13:48, 17 May 2005 (UTC)

Reverted. Right, I'm confused and I've posted a post on RLLM as to wtf is wrong with the Wiki at the moment. Halo 14:02, 17 May 2005 (UTC)

Old Stuff

Are we going to have any problems including review scores? I know gamerankings do lots of comparisons but do they get permission first?

  • I think we need a template which is more like this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Ocarina_of_Time

Really like that infobox on the right. Obviously tailored to our needs.

  • I'm not sure about that, but it's something we'd definitely have to look in to. I wasn't aware that a review score was copyright material in the sense that saying "Magazine XYZ gave Game ABC a score of PPP% or PP/10". Re-printing the article in full would obviously cause problems. I always thought that a "reasonable amount" of the article coule be re-printed for reference purposes with full credit to the original publisher/author. -- Tyagi
  • Started an entry to hopefully use as an example of how to create a game entry...

http://www.gamerwiki.com/index.php/Paper_Mario:_The_Thousand-Year_Door

cribbed slighly from wikipedia and my game manual

Needs amending to get the right structure. Oh, and how to you upload images? I'd like to add the cover and screenshots.

Hub

  • I will look at enabling image upload in a while (I'm on New Zealand time here, so am at work at the moment). The new template looks excellent. Thanks for pulling that in. The breakout-box really works well. -- Tyagi

Director/Producer

.::: Shouldn't we need to note the director and/or producer instead of designer? Those two roles come across as being more important to me.

  • I'd agree. But I'd actually lose that box and just keep it in the credits. Tim

Review Scores

  • I'm not so sure that review scores should be part of the template - I would favour a link to gamerankings or equivalent in the Links section instead... much more useful to the end user than a single score.
  • Maybe you're right. I just thought that a score from one or more of: Edge, GamesTM, Famitsu, would represent a good indication of a game's quality? I wouldn't reference IGN (for example) as a review score.
