Description of Hardware

The Mega CD was an add-on to the Sega Mega Drive which added a CD drive and better graphical capabilities to the standard Mega Drive.

CPU

The main CPU is a 12.5-MHz 16-bit Motorola 68000 processor. The Mega Drive/Genesis has the same processor, but at a lower clock rate of 7.67 MHz.
