The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is the name for Nintendo's Internet-based online gaming service for the Nintendo DS. Nintendo has provided Wi-Fi hotspots around the world in partnership with companies such as McDonalds food outlets, where DS owners can connect to their service for free. Home users can connect to the online service using their own Wi-Fi base station, via an ADSL or dial-up Internet service. The Nintendo DS is compatible with most Wi-Fi base stations or wireless routers.
