A Megabit is a measurement of digital storage, the higher the number the more data can be stored. Mega, in this case, is generally taken to be one million, but is more precisely measured as 2^10 (1,048,576). Therefore, 1 Megabit = 10^6 bits. 1 Megabyte = 10^6 bytes. Given that there are generally 8 bits in a byte, then 8 Megabits form 1 Megabyte. A 1 Megabit cartridge is therefore a 128 Kilobyte cartridge. This means that the cartridge contains 128 Kilobytes of memory.

Megabit is generally associated with a rate of data transfer. For example, 1 Megabit per second, which is written using the notation Mb/s or Mbps. Mb is the short form notation of Megabit.
