Intelligent Systems has been responsible for some of the most successful Nintendo software series. Recently, Paper Mario 2 on Gamecube was the highly successful sequel to Paper Mario on N64. The Fire Emblem series has also proven highly popular on GBA and now Nintendo Gamecube after previous Intelligent Systems releases for NES. Finally, the Advance Wars series has made a highly anticipated move to the Nintendo DS platform after two successful releases on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance.

History

Intelligent Systems was born from Nintendo's R&D1 project in late 1986, headed by Gunpei Yokoi. Gunpei Yokoi was in charge of Intelligent Systems until 1996, when he left to start his own company. As inventor of the Gameboy and many other Nintendo innovations, Gunpei Yokoi had a strong influence on Intelligent Systems and the platforms for which it developed.
