Trivia
- The Liberty City of this game is similar to that in Grand Theft Auto III, but since this game takes place some years before GTA3, there are a number of buildings that are still in construction or have not been started. As a result, while players of GTA3 will recognise most of the city, there are some areas where the road layout is different.
- Some of the Easter eggs from Grand Theft Auto III also appear in this game. For example, there is a piece of graffiti on a wall inside the stadium with a smiley face. In Grand Theft Auto III, this face had a speech bubble saying "You're not supposed to be here.", while in Liberty City Stories it says "Hi again!"
