Story

Ares, the God of War, marches on Athens. Since Zeus has forbidden the Gods from declaring war on each other, Athena has commissioned Kratos, one of Ares former servants, to stop him. With the help of the Gods he must find a weapon that will enable him to defeat Ares and get his own revenge.

Gameplay

The game is a combination of hack and slash combat, platforming sections and puzzles that need to be traversed before allowing players to progress.

Combat Control

Kranos fights using a pair of swords attached to his arms by chains. This allows him to have a fairly long range The combat differentiates itself from other games in the genre by using minigames to finish of opponents, such as pressing circle repeatedly at the appropriate time to drive your sword into a creatures mouth. It also doesn't seem to use the standard buffering method employed by most games. Instead, the players actions seem to be determined by the last key pressed before certain points. As a result it is possible for the player to get the same combination from pressing square, square, triangle at the appropriate places and from mashing square repeatedly and hitting triangle near the end.
