Village Pub name

Our village pub needs a name. It'll still be the Village Pub, of course, but I'm sure we can come up with something to put on the sign. I'll lead with The Red Lion (Boat), from Zelda: the Wind Waker. Xevious 16:42, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

The Red Lion is good. We could have a nice image for that too. -- tyagi 21:37, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I can make a nice image for that ... Xevious 07:49, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Tadaa! Xevious 12:18, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Ooo, you English ... :D The Red Lion is an English symbol... Now, a Red Dragon (on a green & white background perhaps?), that'd be better. :D (Actually, I'm English myself - just lived longer in one place in Wales than the sum of all of the seven different cities I've lived in England!) --Barthax 20:01, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually, Tyagi lives in New Zealand ... Xevious 21:26, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey, I lived in England until this time last year! -- tyagi 09:06, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Promoting GamerWiki

GamerWiki now has a very good framework in terms of its templates, policies etc. and now needs active contributors to put more content in to the Wiki. So, two questions:

  • Firstly, do people agree that GamerWiki does have a good framework in place? Do we need any more user tools, such as forms to assist data input?
  • Secondly, how can we promote GamerWiki to gain contributing readers? This is a problem that nearly every wiki faces, so is not particular to GamerWiki. Keep in mind that Wikipedia was going for a long time before it became popular.

Mentions in magazines would help, specifically those read by people who are interested in making a contribution to the industry's history and culture. Edge, I'm looking at you! Xevious 18:34, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

I was thinking about this actaully, I really love the idea of GamerWiki, I was kicking the idea around in my mind before I began searching for a Video Game wiki site. So, more to the point, I'm gunna put a link to the site in all my sigs for different gaming websites. Hopefully that will help. By the way, Hi everyone. I'm new.

Misc. Errors / Anomalies

Are Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! (SNES) (from the SNES List page) and Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES) (from the Category view) the same reference?--Barthax 20:27, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I'd imagine so. Not all lists contain the correct subtitles ... Xevious 21:26, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Platform Anomaly: 3DO or 3D0? I believe it's the letter, correct? One for the Category:Maintenance/Incorrectcategories I think. :) --Barthax 09:01, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

No, it's (three)(D)(O). Or 3DOA if you like! So anything with (three)(D)(zero) needs to be changed. I've changed the list of games already. Anywhere else? Xevious 09:30, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

Collaberation...?

Hello all, I help maintain a little wiki known as the XeNTaXWIKI, , one that specializes in providing information on file formats (specifically archive formats) used in games. I was thinking, maybe we could start up some sort of collaberation? (I hope I asked this in the right place... =P ) --Dinoguy1000 Talk 03:07, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, what sort of collaboration were you thinking of? We're always happy to talk with other Wiki owners to improve the flow of content and inter-wiki linking. -- tyagi 08:52, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, for one, I could definitely use a helping hand from someone with a little WIKI markup expertise and design ideas, but I was thinking that mostly, for those games you have listed here that we also have listed on our WIKI, you could provide links to the appropriate pages on our WIKI, for anyone who really wants to get deep into a game... Of course, this is just an idea, maybe someone here can come up with something far better... :) --Dinoguy1000 Talk 17:35, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Format logos

While I like the idea of the format logos in the lists, I think they're currently a bit untidy all being different sizes and so on. I propose we set a standard of 18x18, as used by Image:Microsoft Xbox 360 thumblogo.pngXbox 360 ... some logos might need to be a bit stylised to fit, but I'll give it a go! Xevious 23:29, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, some of them are a bit big... I'm not sure we can be completely uniform in terms of the width, but height-wise, 18 seems good. ;) --Barthax 09:40, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
The trickiest are the long ones - but they still work. Have a look at Image:Sony PlayStation 2 thumblogo.png and Image:3DO thumblogo.png - what do you think? Xevious 22:02, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
