To Do

This is the current ToDo List:

  • Anyone with MAME ROM and Arcade experience, please look at the MAME ROM and Arcade sections. Convert the RLLMUK "Good MAME ROMs" list in to a set of Wiki pages: currently here on rllmuk and on the MAME ROM page here at GamerWiki
  • The left-hand menu bars need some sensible entries putting in once there is more static content for them to link to in the main wiki. I will look a this -- tyagi
    • I will look at this when we've discussed the concept of fixed platform portals, as noted in the GamerWiki:Village Pub
  • Finalise the media (for example, CD-ROM, Game Boy Cartridge) list. Xevious 17:03, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
    • Progressed significantly. Still some work to be done. --Barthax 23:09, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Are we nearly done with this item? -- tyagi 03:31, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
  • Games to be Added lists all the games that are yet to be added to the database. We need to make sure that every format has its full missing games list represented! Xevious 12:20, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
    • I think that the GamerWiki:Games to be Added page addresses this item now? -- tyagi 03:31, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
    • The capacity is certainly there & is probably as best as we'll need. However, we're a long way off full missing games list(s). --Barthax 09:00, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Completed

These are a list of things that are considered completed, but still may need minor revision and are here for historical reasons:

  • Company Information Template may still need some work, please take a look and add comments in 'discussion'
    • Made it use a template, and I would say it's complete - Halo 15:14, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Help:Template for Single-Format Games needs standardising
    • Done. Unless anybody has any major problem with the page - Halo 15:14, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Game Information Template needs some work, but is getting in shape now. (I think we're almost there with this template now. Any more comments on it or changes people can think of? --tyagi 23:25, 9 May 2005 (UTC))
    • I'm happy with the template right now. Any improvements will be incremental. -- tyagi 03:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • I think a Keying Guide needs to be created. This will the show contributors the correct way to enter data to keep things standardised across all entries. This still needs work -- tyagi
    • Not needed now that we've developed policy -- tyagi 03:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • The List of Systems is growing and needs information filling in on all the systems we've noted, especially on the older consoles and home computers
    • This is obvious IMO -- tyagi 03:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Multiformat games: we will do something like MTC has done for Sonic Heroes. Move discussion to GamerWiki:Policy.
    • Done in policy now and with Xevious's nice HOWTO documents -- tyagi 03:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Alternative titles: "alternativetitle" added to GameInfoBox. If the games are the same, we should keep the European/Australian game as the main entry and have the other titles just redirecting to that page (see Project Rub (DS) and Feel the Magic XY/XX (DS)). If the games are different, they should have different pages (see Advance Wars where the Japanese game is different - try Game Boy Wars Advance).
    • What about games like Donkey Konga which have the same name but difference between regions? Xevious 14:25, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
    • This is addressed in Policy now -- tyagi 03:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • As well as style guides and so on, we need some basic instructions to help people create pages for games. I've made a start from the Help:Contents pages, where do you think this would be best placed? Xevious
    • Done in the Help section now -- tyagi 03:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Finalising categories:
    • Genre
    • Format (short names for titles)
    • Generations
    • Done in Help now -- tyagi 03:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Finalise the genre list. Xevious 17:03, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
    • Finalised and all games moved to these genres ... I hope. Xevious 17:03, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)
  • Clean up the category space
    • Done - we now only have categories for Manufacturers, Hardware, Genres. I vote we drop categories for job types for personnel. Xevious 17:53, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)

  • We need to transfer all the old-style pages so they use the new templates. If we are sticking with the "Game Name (Console Name)" naming scheme, lots of pages need moving too - Halo 15:20, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Still in progress? -- tyagi 03:29, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • Yes! -- Xevious 17:03, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
    • I think the pages are all moved, but it's not as easy to look for the untemplated games. I've taken to using the "random page" link! Xevious 09:25, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)
    • There are (I think) 52 games that need to be moved into the new format. I have labelled them with a new category: Old Style Games. Our overall aim should be to eliminate that category! It takes around five minutes to move the simpler games into the new format; it can take a little longer if the game needs to be made multi-format or so on. Xevious 17:03, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)

  • Done! Xevious 16:19, 10 Aug 2005 (UTC)
