Writing Style

  • The style of articles on GamerWiki should remain factual and NOT express personal opinion. Any information relating to games or hardware should be statements of fact and NOT reviews.
  • Authors should adopt a formal style of writing and not use slang or colloquial terms. Please be aware that many people reading your edits may not have English as a first language.
  • Casual comments or any comment that could be deemed offensive to any individual or group should be avoided. It is understood, however, that this is unavoidable when writing about certain subject matters. Similarly, overt political correctness does not engender good writing style.

In summary, please write in a mature, factual, style. Avoid slang, bad language or offensive statements.

Titles

Words in titles should be written in the way the official title states, although:

  • if "and" is abbreviated to "n", it should be written as "'n'"
  • if titles use non-Roman letters, technical constraints may mean the title must be translated

Formatting

Dates

All dates must be entered in templates in the form day/monthintext/year.

Genres

The list of genres can be found at this page.

Media

The list of media formats can be found at this page.

System Names

When referring to systems in templates and in body text, use the full name as found on the List of Systems.

When adding a system to the title for disambiguation purposes, drop the manufacturer from the name (so, for example, Donkey Konga (GameCube), NOT Donkey Konga (Nintendo GameCube)).
