Help pages

If you're stuck, the first place to go is the Help contents page.

How you can help

There are many areas of GamerWiki that need development at the moment. We are maintaining a specific to-do list (see below), but in particular we are now looking to add content to existing pages. Many games are already catalogued in our system through automated page creation, but each of these pages needs a lot of information put in. This is where you can help! All of these pages will be marked as stubs, and recent pages will also have more specific markers indicating which bit of content is missing:

Games, system, company and people pages are now based on templates as a replacement to the previous non-standard HTML-based design. Information about these templates and how to use them can be found in the Help section of the site.

There is a lot of information required still to be entered into the Wiki, and contributing in any way you can is greatly appreciated - whether by creating new pages or editing existing ones with more information. For step-by-step instructions of how to contribute to our collection of games information, please visit Help:Contents.

A great resource for Wiki users is the Wikipedia Community Portal, which has a great deal of information on how to best use a Wiki. In the meantime, please visit The GamerWiki Pub for a chat about what's currently going on.

GamerWiki's to-do list

(edit this)

MAME list

  • Anyone with MAME ROM and Arcade experience, please look at the MAME ROM and Arcade sections. Convert the RLLMUK "Good MAME ROMs" list in to a set of Wiki pages: currently here on rllmuk and on the MAME ROM page here at GamerWiki
    • Arcade & MAME in general is progressing along. Still need some ideas on the MAME ROM page though.

Left-hand menus

  • Replace "Current events" with "Community" and "Community Portal" with "Getting started" - the latter applies to the project page name as well. Xevious 16:07, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Media list

  • Finalise the media (for example, CD-ROM, Game Boy Cartridge) list. Xevious 17:03, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
    • Progressed significantly. Still some work to be done. --Barthax 23:09, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Are we nearly done with this item? -- tyagi 03:31, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
        • Nearly, but we now need to make sure the pages are created for everthing, including a picture. Xevious 16:07, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Featured articles

  • We need more structure to this. Create a box to be placed on the discussion page of potential and past featured articles. Xevious 17:21, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Also change the current featured article manually!

Allowing for "The" and "A" in game titles

The following steps:

  • Include a "listas" parameter in the gameinfobox template (but NOT the gameinfobox)
  • In the category tag, include the listas parameter after a pipe if it exists
  • Just to be sure, is this intended to remove the 'The' and 'A' portions of names so that the game gets listed in the category without that portion? I.e., [[Category:Game|Incredibles]] for The Incredibles? --Barthax 19:36, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Yes. It'll be listed as Incredibles, The. Xevious 17:10, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
