Description of Hardware

The system that changed an industry. While various milestones had been achieved by the 1976 release of the Channel F in terms of home entertainment and video gaming, the Fairchild Channel F introduced a brand new concept which all subsequent popular formats would follow: the interchangeable media. The Fairchild Channel F not only was capable of playing games, but it was capable of changing what games you could play. Until now all home video gaming systems were only capable of the games which were built into the product at the time of purchase. The Fairchild Channel F could be purchased and then, at much smaller prices, an add-on could change the game(s) available! What a concept!
