Description
Dead or Alive 4 is a fighting game for the Xbox 360 better known for it's well endowed female characters than it's deep fighting mechanic.
Story
Helena Douglas has taken over DOATEC and the forth Dead Or Alive Tournament is set to begin.
Gameplay
Dead or Alive 4 is a free moving 3D fighter and it's main focus is the triangle of attacks possible: strikes beat throws, throws beat counters, and counters beat strikes. Every striking attack in the game is either high, medium or low and can be countered by doing the appropriate combination on the pad.
Counters can be done for high, medium punch, medium kick and low attacks (the high and low catch both punches and kicks) - these interupt the attack and deal damage to the person who threw the striking attack, however the timing must be good to pull off.
The triangle works by dealing more damage on beating the appropriate move. For example: if you throw someone when they attempt a counter, your throw will do more damage.
Interupting your opponents strike with a strike of your own will class as a counter and do slightly more damage and cause more stagger. If the move you hit were to float your opponent then they will go higher.
Floating is the act of hitting your opponent into the air. Once they're in the air they're powerless to stop any attack or attacks unleashed upon them. The damage done by each more on floated opponents is less, but it is another major consideration of the fighting.
Fights are either 1v1 or 2v2 (known as tag battles). The 1 on 1 fights play like a traditional versus figher, but the tag battles allow for free swapping of partners (if not being attacked), special tag team moves (which are really just throws) and the character not currently in battle regenerates life. Both members of the tag team have to be defeated to win the round.
