Description
Alien Hominid is a 2D platform shooter, where the player must traverse urban levels defeating FBI staff by shooting them. The game grew from a Shockwave Flash-based prototype which was widely distributed on the Internet.
Story
You are Alien Hominid, an alien who was minding its own business in space before being shot out of the air by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The emergency landing places you on earth, but the bad men in black steal your spacecraft and relocate it to Area 51. It’s your job to use a futuristic pea shooter, grenades, and some fleet footedness to beat the FBI agents and even the KGB in order to get your spacecraft back.
Gameplay
Alien Hominid pays homage to classic 2D arcade shooters, Metal Slug being the most obvious. As with Metal Slug, Hominid's gameplay is fast and furious: the harder the difficulty, the more intense the action is. You basically run around in a shoot-'em-up fashion killing FBI agents, with the occasional boss at the end of each level.
Trivia
- A common misconception is that the game released commercially is the same as the Flash-based game that was freely distributed - it is not.
